Some versions say FATHER FOREVER, some ETERNAL FATHER, some FATHER ETERNITY and the DRB says FATHER OF THE WORLD TO COME but here let's take the NIV's EVERLASTING FATHER.
What is meant by EVERLASTING?
Everlasting is being constant, continuing, enduring, eternal, unsurpassed and permanent.
It is also being immortal, deathless. Aways been present.
And FATHER?
A father is the male parent of children, a partenal parent. The head of family. He is the breadwinner of the family. He sees the welfare of a family. The family is called by his name.
The EVERLASTING FATHER is simply father eternal. He sees the family welfare eternally. He breadwins for the family eternally. The family is called by His NAME eternally. He is the FATHER that doesn't die. His family will never say, "Rest In Peace Daddy."
Just imagine being with your father always. Jesus is EVERLASTING FATHER , the FATHER GENERAL [father of my father and father of my child], no one is an orphan in the sight of Jesus. An orpharn is a child permanently bereaved of or abandoned by his or her parents.
With Jesus the EVERLASTING FATHER no one is permanently abandoned. He is FATHER eternally.
